Over the past 50 years the company
has assembled a large archive of photographs of good oil paintings,
most of which have passed through our hands at one time or another.
They include works by practically every British Artist of note,
and frequently many examples of each artist. The company owns the
copyright of all these photographs.
In recent years, it has become the norm for museums and other owners
of copyright photographs to charge art-historians for the use of
their images. This has made research and reproduction costs prohibitive
for many publications of an art-historical nature, particularly
for lesser-known artists where the market for publications is small.
As a service to bona-fide art-historians, research institutions
and public museums, images from our Image Library are available
free for research and scholarly publication in digital form.
If you would like to send us a request for works by any British
artist, please send an e-mail to cf@lanefineart.co.uk
and we will check our database for images. Please specify the quality
of scan you would like. All images may be supplied free by e-mail
up to 1MB in JPEG form, scanned from our photographic originals.
Copies of the actual photographs may occasionally be supplied at
cost: please ask.
